p.s. can we have the gathering after 1st dec, if there is any. i need 3 days of sleep. haha.

Finally, the struggle is over.....for the time being

Hi all, the Prelims has finally come to a close. The sheer amount of work to be revised and the process of sitting through the numerous hours of exam was really torturing. I was really extremely relieved that I had finally overcome all that struggle and I believe most of those who had been through the Prelims would share the same sentiment as me.

However, this time, the Prelims had not been as idealistic as I had thought. I wasn't able to finish all the revision that i had wanted due to poor time management. In fact, a lot of essential things are left uncovered during my revision. Looking back, I think there could be a lot of improvements in the way that I revise my work. Besides that, I think I've also made several grave mistakes when taking the actual exam itself. The two most serious errors would be the wrong choice of questions and poor time management.

Of course, it's a natural reaction that we would all feel that we could have done much better after the exam itself. But I really hope that the actual A level Exam would be the time when I totally grasped everything that I'm capable of knowing. There's also the second struggle awaiting me and those in the same predicament as me. But of course, there's still whole month of time for us to catch up with the work. I think we should still take a break over the weekends before going back to school to receive our results.

I think it's quite a good suggestion that we had a class gathering after the A level but I think the date and time should be carefully chosen as some people may be enlisted in the NS early in Mid Dec or the PRC scholars may be returning to China.

On the lighter note

Do you people wanna have gathering after your Alevels? I will help plan?

Dying in process...

OMG!
i am having Prelims now... and i survived the first week. come to think of it, its quite a miracle! still have one and a half week to go... wonder if i can pull through... Arghhh!!! Why is AC's prelims 1 month before the rest? To all of those whose prelims is coming soon, BETTER STUDY HARD! before you know it, your time is up! sounds horrible. and Prelims is damn difficult! :(

Happy National Day

Finally, we all have a long weekend due to National Day. For the next 4 days, I will probably be resting and destressing to get myself refreshed. Hopefully, I can go back to school with a fresh mind to prepare for the coming Prelims which falls on 30 Aug. After that, we'll be having the A levels. This will be the last lap for me before I rest for two years for NS. Sounds strange... Actually, I was being classified as PES E for the NS so I will probably be working as a clerk throughout my two years of NS. So I wouldn't be training under the hot sun and be physically exhausted. Therefore, I could foresee that I would be enjoying myself for the next two years.

Anyway, how's everyone? Seems to be quite busy.....No updates for one whole month already.

another random post

worked till 9pm yesterday at McD. tired as hell... almost fallin asleep... and for some reason, I went to watch shrek 3 with my friends. Everyone thought it's gonna be sooooooo gd. budden... it wasnt that funny. We laughed, but it was half-hearted. I never actually laughed. just giggled along. The shrek babies were cute and the princesses were hot. that's like the only few gd things abt the movie. the whole thing was only 1hr 15mins. I've noticed that when u hav really high expectations of a movie, it most likely turns out to be a disappointment. hav u guys watched Epic movie?? It screws around with other movies and make them into some stupid story(like scary movie, except that it's not scary). My friends and I were dying to watch it. but in the end, we found it a waste of money. don't go for movies that r supposed to be funny... cuz they're probably not. Spiderman 3 was pretty awesome. but my frens didnt like it. I hate mary jane!! what a bitch. she gets jealous bcuz her bf is more successful than her. and she is soooooooooo stupid. why did she listen to the green goblin and told peter that she does not like him anymore(or whatever this guy's name is)? she cld've told peter abt his fren's plot when they met up at the bridge. it's not like spiderman cant pwn the green goblin.

My pay at McD: $6.75/hr. you wld think i m messed up in the head. but no. they told me the pay after i got hired. My fren working there told me i shld be getting $8.25 since it's my 2nd job. but the manager said i havent got 500hrs of experience. what kinda BS is that? my other frens get paid $8.75 and they hav less exp than i do. yea, many ppl work there. lol. I got burned 4 times. the first time was most stupid. you know how the grill has a upper platen and the lower grill. both r super hot. I accidentally touched the bottom grill(ouch!) and quickly pulled back my hand. when i pulled back, i touched the top platen(another ouch...). omg... what a joke... when i juz started, i worked my butt off. for the freaking 6.75/hr. how dumb. now i try to slack as much as possible. lol. the easiest job is to do the lobby. like cleaning tables and sweeping the floor. i did it 4 times yesterday. haha! another easy task is to wash the trays. the managers didnt care cuz they r nice. My work buddies r so cool. We were supposed to buy out own lunch and get a 50% off, but they didnt charge me at all. And I got one of them to hook me up with some crazy ass meal. my grilled chicken burger had 2 pieces of grilled chicken and my "4-nugget" packet had 8 nuggets. LOL! that's right! I did that kinda stuff too when my fren came over later on.

high school is almost over. i'll miss some ppl. surely miss singing k with the asian crew... and there are things i havent done... and i m not sure if i'll ever do it... less than 20days left.

if not now. when?

i guess if i don't blog now. i will never blog.
*slaps myself.
update update!

mmm. this term... is just like the last term. dots... this term got aj family day! got aj track and field meet! got syf for rvcl juniors!

aj family day: same lame game as last year. with new class tee! the game is called "Catch the Skulls!" (actually skulls=balls. it was supposed to attract attention. but it failed. haix. ) it's a game where balls are thrown from behind a long stretch of cloth and the player(s) on the other side has to catch as many balls as possible using a small pail. simple. but the catch is we have limited balls.. half way through the game, the balls will be used up. so my job during my shift is to do CWO. i have to ensure that there's a constant supply of balls for the throwers by sweeping the missed balls back using a broom during the game itself. wow. come to think of it, my job is actually very important. haha. but it's so paiseh lah. holding a broom all the time. there's this little kid passing by the classroom commenting tt i'm like a witch on a broomstick! wing came and supported me and randal. so there we are. three rvians. randal and wing as a team. and me as a "cleaner".. -_-"

went off early to support rvcl juniors. their syf piece is simply great! they used OHP to flash the transparencies which act as the background. at one time they poured water onto transparent trays on the OHP. the effect was stunning. then they put in those guppies! then u can see shadows of them swimming! wow. (heard from juniors tt the guppies pooped also. but mmm. i think i didn't see tt.. ) in the end they got 2nd, gold, and best original script after the qualifying round and finals. so proud of them. haha. going to support their annual production soon.

our class was one of the organising class of the track and field meet. which ended before labour day. it was taking up a lot of my time. when actually i didn't do much. :P logistics ppl = logs and logs are meant to rot. haix. so had to part time in other places such as timekeepers. but i got do my job as a log also k. i carried dunno how many hurdles during the field events day. haha. track and field meet day itself was quite slack. timekeeping requires a lot of concentration, or else if ur reaction time is slow, u will end up with a national record timing. so stressful and so fun at the same time.

misc. failed nafpa: expected. watched aj idol: sian. result was so anti-climax. common test: haven't finish yet. still got econs to go.

if not now. when?take action! jiayou!

It's Idiot Day Today

Dunno why I'm posting this in a half-dead class blog, lol. But anyway. Below is a weird/funny/idiotic/insert some other descriptor random story.
Some person SMSes me at night saying hi. Never seen the number before, but being the (not so) nice guy I am I SMS back, at the same time finding out who he is. Turns out he's some guy I've never heard of/met before. So, I ask him whether he knows who I am. He thinks I'm some person I've never heard of in my life O_O And here's the good part: despite me repeatedly denying it, he's 101% convinced I'm that person, lol. AND he turns around and cusses me. I'm starting to feel really sorry for that person he thinks I am, lol. Hmm... is it's possible for 2 ppl to have exactly the same phone no.? Methinks not. Conclusion: he's a pure idiot, plain and simple =P
To that guy I've never met and will never meet: seriously, man, learn how to take a hint already -__-lll

Update from Rihui

It seems that nobody is posting anything for the past one week or so. So I decided to post again to give some updates of myself. Well, for the past few months, I really steeped myself in various CCA commitments, CIP activities and academics. The tests are going on like crazy for the past one month or so. Can you ever imagine yourself having to take two tests almost every week? To compound the problem, the tests are mostly content-based subjects, meaning you have to memorise a lot of things and do a lot of revision. Luckily, I survived the ordeal though I didn't do well for most of the tests. But I will still have to one more NUS physics H3 term test to cope with next week. Fortunately, we will be having one day off on Monday due to excellent A level results that our seniors have achieved for this year.

To rewind back the time a bit, we actually had a small 4E class gathering during the Chinese New Year celebration at Hwa Chong Institution (College). Here are some pictures taken.

I think we really had a great time with Terence accompanying us. Subsequently, some of us also accompanied Terence to West Mall to help him to buy some gifts.
All right, that's end of my sharing. Hope that everyone can continue to excel in whatever you are doing.

Sunday, 4 February 2007

hello~~~

hello people~~~
ruifan's here~~
after a long time, i finally joined this blog! blame it on hotmail.
it's like 0047 in the morning and i'm still researching on my art coursework. RAWRR. so i'm kind of bored and pop in to update.
something about my recent life.
actually, it's not very interesting, becoz i have blended in so well with my NJ uniform, that my life is equally dull. okok, i shall stop complaining.
Since the start of this year, i have been very busy. basically, it's just about lessons, homework and tests. we are like trying to kill one another and most of the time, i ended up dead as expected.
The fun part of school is just art itself. we had our own work places where we can do anything we want. it is extremely useful when we don't feel like going to PE lessons (somehow no body in the school realises the art block's presence). it's also a good studying area when we dun want to go to the library where the muggers' population is staturated. coming back to the point, art lessons are really exciting, i learned many new techniques, and met many interesting artist. for instance, we met Singapore's famous potter Mr Iskandar Jalil, who has been awarded the cultural medallion on our visit to the Dragon Kiln last tuesday. He's 68 yrs old, but he's really cool ,funny and poetic and he has cool motorbikes. And last year, we attended a talk by Mr Frank Gehry, a world famous architect in NUS. i found him very inspiring. if you are clueless about who he is, well, he designed the singapore IR for Kerzner-CapitaLand consortium's project, but unfortunately, it's nvr going to be built. Soon, we will be meeting Mr Tang Da Wu, a famous Singapore artist when he is back from overseas. it's kind of exciting.

last last week, my art class took part in the painting 100 chairs event. you can actually bid for a chair online. so please go and at least look at the chairs!~ haha.

it's a kind of late, and i have merely slept for 29 hrs last week, and considering the fact that i have tests and bebate and many more to do in the upcoming week. so, see you. i'm off to do my research~ :)

House of Wolves

Hello to everyone again. Sorry for not posting, I've been too busy (or rather, lazy) to post lately. Yes, I'm probably the world's biggest procrastinator. And no, there's nothing interesting that I want you guys to know to post about anyway.

In case you're pondering over my very odd choice of title, I have moved out of my current house as I am unable to afford the sky-high rent and have chosen to live in a den with a pack of wolves instead. [/badjoke] But seriously, my house is even noisier than a den full of wolves. Not a good thing when you're two weeks away from exams and haven't started revising yet. It's mainly due to a certain 12-year-old kid in the family. Sorry to say this, but I so hate kids right now. I wish time would speed up so it reaches June and I can (FINALLY!!) move out. On the bright side, my homestay family's going to Perth on holiday for a few days so I can have some rare moments of peace and quiet then. =)

But anyway, that wasn't why I posted this. This may be old news to some, but I'll be back in Singapore yet again come 10 Feb. To be precise, this will be the 3rd time I return to Singapore. I'd much rather come back and spend CNY with my family, in a Chinese-majority country than spend it with a few friends in Australia. There's just no festive mood in Australia, even though there are a lot (and I mean A LOT) of Chinese students there. I know you guys are still in school for the most part, but I hope to somehow see some of you and contact some others. Note that I'll have a handphone number while I'm in Singapore, email or ask me on MSN for it, since I'm not stupid enough to post it on the Web for any Tom, Dick and Harry to see.

In the meantime, I've got to get through my remaining lectures, attend some revision classes, start revising for exams (although you'll still see me on MSN very often) and hope to see you who are reading this when I'm back in Singapore =)

(P.S The first person to figure out the reference I made in the title gets a cookie. Hints may be provided on request. =P)

Starting School

Hi everyone, sorry for being inactive for the past one month. Initially, I thought I could post more messages in the holidays so I was quite happy that this blog was created during the school holidays. However, as I looked back, I realised that my whole holiday was all spent on CenTaD research Programme, chinese research essay, CCA matters and holiday assignments. All these work kept me busy throughout the holiday so I could hardly have any time to blog. Coupled with that, I am also prohibited to use my computer at home to blog due to the fact that I used computer too often. Therefore, I can only make use of the school IT facilities to blog now.

Anyway, for the December holiday especially during the last two weeks of holiday, I think quite a series of events happened. While the temperate countries were snowing, we were having raining season. It was raining almost everyday. I think there are a few consecutive week that the downpour was so heavy that some parts of Singapore flooded but it's still minor compared to that of Malaysia. I think quite a large area of Malaysia was completely immersed in water after all the heavy downpours. Following that, Taiwan had some earthquakes and resulted in some major internet connection problem and we could not log onto the internet. Initially, I heard the report that it will take 3 months for Taiwan to repair the underwater cables used for internet connection so I was quite worried then. Luckily, it was fully restored by the last few days before the school reopens, or else the consequence could really be dire.

Besides that, I think I'm also quite happy to receive some of your Christmas greeting card so I decided to send some too. I hope those of you who received it would like it. Nevertheless, I think it is a good idea that we can send each other regards on holiday seasons through e-card. It's fast, convenient and meaningful. After all, it's great to know that there are people out there who still cares for you.

Anyway, the school has started again and term one week one is over now. Time really flies. Soon, it will be the time for me to put all my focus on academics and prepare for the tests in the year ahead. By the way, I had also been accepted into the NUS H3 Physics module so it will be an even busier year for me. What's even worse, the examination for that subject falls on late April and I'm only starting the course on Jan. It will really be a tough battle for me to adapt quickly to the rigour of the course and excel in it while at the same time, coping well with my other subjects and CCA activities. But it will be a fulfilling one if I can succeed in doing so.

However, in view of the increasing time and energy I am going to devote to my academics and CCA activities, I have to apologise first if I'm not able to post anything in the near future. But I promise that I will do my best to contribute to this blog to keep it going.

Towards the end, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all those taking A level good luck and hope that all of you can excel in it. Do put in your utmost effort in this and you will find it rewarding in the end. Even if you did not excel eventually, you will be greatly comforted that you have done your best and you will never come to regret it later. For those who have not done well last year, I think it will not be too late to work hard now since it's just the beginning of the year. With determination and diligence, I believe all of us can perform well.

As for the others who are in the midst of studying university and polytechnic, I also sincerely wish you all the best in whatever you are doing. Good luck everyone.
